Fashionistas run out of money, appropriate culture from world’s poor

Fashionistas the world over have tried alternative approaches to expressing their ‘Africanism’, with sexy results.

Designer - no, MAVERICK - Zachary Smile traveled to Ivory Coast in order to culturally appropriate these patterns, reselling them in hipster-dress form for as little as $298. Apparently, “African prints and global ethnicity” were all the rage for New York Fashion week, proving once again that intellectual property rights are only for the rich.

‘Hey, its not about you!’ Would love to get Oscar de la Renta’s perspective on “global ethnicity” - we can only imagine it must require a friggin genius to capture all those misconceptions in just one or two dresses. We say, well done sir!

This year’s styles must have taken a hat tip from Vogue India, which in a recent feature, kindly dressed actual poor people in Hermes bags and Fendi bibs. Editor Priya Tanna responds to criticism: “screw you poor people, be honored to be essentialized by Vogue!” (Not really. But pretty close).
