Who votes to cancel Christmas?
An employee of Walmart was killed yesterday, trampled to death by a mob of overeager Long Island parents, fighting to get their children the 2008 version of Tickle-Me-Elmo.
Aside from the obvious tragedy of the situation, we are shocked to find that in all reporting of the incident, most concern is addressed toward the lack of security in this ‘Black Friday’ melee. Note that the New York Times offers ‘not word one’ of criticism on a culture that produces people willing to break into a store and run over and kill another human being for a product, and then wait patiently in line to purchase said item.

That is it, everyone gets coal this year. Mandatory public service looks more necessary for this country by the minute.
